Rockford's first ever Make-A-Wish "Walk For Wishes" is Saturday, April 27, at Rock Valley College. Their mission is to "grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy."

Many Rockford families had experiences granted wishes through the organization, including Mason, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when he was three years old. Neuroblastoma is a type of cancer that forms in nerve tissue throughout the body. Mason died from the disease four years later. His supporters at the walk, Team Mason, has raised more than $17,000 for the event, the highest of any team.

Yes, the weather won't be the greatest, but you can dress in costume. Come as a super hero! Dress appropriately and you'll be good.

Registration is at 9 a.m., $15 for adults and $10 for kids. The walk begins at 10 a.m. with WIFR's Mike Garrigan and Shannon Kelly the emcees and JB Love as the events DJ.
