This year there are two Record Store Days. I love the idea. The second one is this Saturday, July 17th.

If you are a fan of music, Rockford is a great place to be because of a couple of really cool stores to purchase releases from your favorite bands.

We actually have three really awesome record stores in our community. The last one is CD Source. They do not carry any of the Record Store Day releases but they still celebrate by hosting a huge sale. They have a lot of great items in their store.

What Is Record Store Day?

To me. I feel like Record Store Day is a holiday. I love shopping for music, especially vinyl. RSD just gives me an excuse to go out looking for new tunes for my collection.

Some hardcore vinyl collectors are not big fans of Record Store Day. They claim it is for beginners and amateurs. Well, I am sorry. I consider myself an expert and I love going out on RSD. In fact, I was so excited that there were multiple days to celebrate this year.

Plus, there are so many unique releases for Record Store Day, I do not want to miss the chance to pick up some of these once-in-a-lifetime albums to add to my collection. To check out the list of this year's releases, HERE.

Here is the real reason to support these special days. According to recordstoreday.com,

"Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica."
