Overnight all the pots of marigolds in my backyard mysteriously disappeared, and I need help finding the culprit.

Here's the crime scene photo. On Wednesday all these pots were filled with marigolds, yesterday they were gone.

Allow me to zoom in on one of the pots so that you can see they are not just chewed on...they are completely gone.

They do not appear to be pulled out, but there is nothing left of them. I have not yet checked to see if the root base remains in the dirt, but what kind of animal would I have in my yard that's capable of eating them all in one gulp? This is so disturbing to me, and a tad bit creepy. Just look at the disheveled mulch to the upper left of the close up.

My good friend Google tells me squirrels and rabbits don't like marigolds, and I have never had a problem like this with marigolds before and we have A LOT of squirrels and rabbits in my yard.

Who do I need to lay a whoopin' on? Deers? Woodchucks? Neighborhood squirrels? My neighbors? Help me solve this crime, please! I won't be able to sleep until justice has been served. #mamahasabbgun
