OSCAR Statues Are Made In Illinois

The Academy will hand out Oscar Statues this Sunday night to the elite of Hollywood. Did you know that for decades, Oscar has been created in Illinois? Watch how they are made here.

Each one is made by hand in Chicago at R.S. Owens and Company. They also make the Emmy, MTV awards and many others.The process starts in November to make about 50 each year.

Even though they may only be worth $400, to the winner they are game changers for careers. The Oscar Statue is the most recognized trophy in the world. They can be found on the mantels of the greatest filmmakers in history since 1929.

The Academy Awards are this Sunday, February 22 starting at 6pm Central with the red carpet and more on ABC-TV.
