If you a smoker in Illinois, big changes are in store for you as July 1, 2015

NO more smoking on-campus in Illinois as of July 1, 2015. Governor Pat Quinn signed the "Smoke Free Campus Act" on Sunday. The law will ban smoking in both indoor and outdoor spaces on state-supported college and university campuses starting July 1, 2015. This will not affect private colleges or Universities

Gov Quinn told the Chicago Tribune

Illinois' college students shouldn't be subject to unwanted cigarette smoke on the campuses they call home, we want all schools to be healthy, clean and productive places of learning for Illinois' bright young minds. This new law will improve the health of our students and encourage healthier lifestyles after college graduation."

The text of the law states that smoking will still be allowed inside cars traveling through campus. The law also provides a few exceptions.
