MoviePass believes that you can have too much of a good thing.

The popular subscription service, that offers unlimited movie tickets for $9.99 per month, made a few quiet changes to their terms of service that could upset many of their customers. That is, as long as you notice the changes they made.

In an email sent to all of their customers yesterday. MoviePass announced a few changes to their terms of service. If you subscribe to anything, changes are usually made to conditions and terms of service often.

MoviePass Quietly Updated Their Terms Of Service And Rockford Theatergoers Are Screwed

Nothing that would be earth shattering but for MoviePass, they managed to sneak in some verbiage that could change the way we watch movies in Rockford and nearly anywhere else.

In section 2.4 of the newly created document MoviePass says,

MoviePass reserves the right to change or modify the Service or subscriptions at any time and in its sole discretion, including but not limited to applicable prices, at any time, without prior notice. MoviePass reserves the right to change the rules of movie-going attendance and ticket availability to members in connection with the Service at anytime. MoviePass reserves the right to change from time to time the number of eligible movies a member can see per month. MoviePass reserves the right to offer members a new price option if they exceed watching a certain amount of movies per month. You will be notified of any price changes made to the terms of service prior to your next billing cycle, at which point you would have 14 days to opt-out of the Service and terminate your subscription. MoviePass will not make any changes to your subscription mid-cycle, all changes will be in affect at the start of your next billing cycle. MoviePass is not responsible for theater programming, cancellations, or rescheduled performances."

Long story short, MoviePass can charge you more or cancel your account altogether if you use it too much. That's the equivalent of Netflix telling saying "You need to pay more because you binge-watched too many shows."

But how much is "too much?" Good question, and apparently a question MoviePass can't answer at the moment.

So, next time you go to AMC 16 in Rockford or wherever, remember it might be your last, that is, if you're using MoviePass.
