Motorcyclist Shatters Speed Limit, Faces Hefty Fines & Jail Time

People speed all the time everywhere, even though we know we shouldn't. How many people look at their speedometer and think, "yeah, it's only 5 miles per hour over, no big deal." We all do it. This person, though, they added a whole new definition to speeding. It happened really early in the morning this week, too.

Illinois State Police shared what not to do while driving and what not to think while driving on Facebook. The thing you don't want to do is think you're not going to get caught because they're always chance you will. That's what happened to a motorcyclist on IL-49, way south into Illinois. They thought they wouldn't get caught going 79 miles-per-hour over the speed limit. They were wrong. The incident happened on a bright sunny morning on a two-lane, where the motorcycle was registered going 134 miles-per-hour.

Imagine if a deer ran out into the road.

Imagine if the motorcycle crossed the center line and hit your family traveling the opposite direction.

Imagine if the oncoming vehicle cross the center line and hit the motorcycle.

The incident in reference happened on a bright sunny morning on a two-lane, where the motorcycle was registered going 134 miles-per-hour.

35 miles per hour or more over the limit. Class A misdemeanor and carries up to one year in jail and a maximum $2,500 in fines.
