Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Lauren Alaina + More Team for U2 Cover at Country LakeShake 2019 [WATCH]
Miranda Lambert ended the first day (June 21) of the 2019 Country LakeShake Festival in Chicago, Ill., with a powerful moment: The country superstar invited her Pistol Annies bandmates, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, along with Lauren Alaina, Lindsay Ell, Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope, to the stage to cover U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."
Readers can press play above to watch the all-female crew's U2 cover. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is the second single from the Irish rock band's seminal 1987 album The Joshua Tree, and it became a No. 1 hit.
"I can't believe I get to stand up here with these badasses tonight," Lambert told the crowd (quote via Taste of Country). "We're gonna make a toast to women singing women's songs... and a toast to y'all for listening!"
Friday's LakeShake Festival lineup consisted of all women, with the exception of Dee Jay Silver. “These women have given me so much fuel personally and professionally and creatively," Lambert said of the group ahead of time. "It can be very hard to be stuck in the middle of a whole lineup of dudes.”
This fall, Lambert will hit the road with an all-female lineup for the newest incarnation of her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour. Her revolving supporting cast includes not just her Pistol Annies bandmates but also Morris, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes and more.
By that time, Lambert may have new music out: The singer says her next studio album is coming this fall; in fact, during CMA Fest 2019 in early June, she debuted a brand-new song, "Locomotive."
"My fire is back and and I still feel like the girl that was at "The House That Built Me" era [in 2010]," Lambert says of her new music. "It's fun ... It's just high energy -- it's fun lyrics, it's clever, it's a lot of girl anthems."
