LGBTQ History Will Now Be Taught In Illinois Schools
The world has definitely come along way in the last 30 years. The world around us is changing more and more every day. One of the big changes in the last few years was making gay marriage legal. Now in all 50 states, single sex couples can legally be together and enjoy some of the same tax benefits of a regular married couple.
Another law was passed recently that will add to history lesson plans across schools in Illinois. Named House Bill 346, the legislation ensures that state schools teach the roles and contributions of LGBT people in America's history. The bill also included a section that ensures the religious neutrality of the textbook block grant program. Senator Heather Steans said " An all inclusive curriculum will not only teach an accurate version of history but also promote acceptance of the LGTBQ community."
