If you want to truly experience something new and different in your life, then make plans to take in a winter beach sauna in Illinois.

Illinois Beach Offers Winter Beach Sauna Experience

It's funny because I've never been a big sauna person and my dad's side of the family is from Finland. They all have them in their homes. I think it's because I'm not a fan of extreme temperatures. People will sit in those steamy rooms and then jump in freezing water. That's a little much for me but I appreciate people who do it.

I am a huge beach person. I love going to chill on the sand and in the water. I know Illinois isn't really known for its beaches but I grew up going to North Avenue Beach in Chicago right on Lake Machine. Of course, all those great memories are in the summer.

The Chicago Park District is offering a very unique experience this winter. They have saunas located on North Avenue Beach. They've teamed up with a company named Thunder Domes which created a mobile sauna to enjoy the lifestyle anywhere. Want to try something new, then how does that sound?

These saunas are legit. They can get up to 200 degrees. The park district has a whole setup with a heated dome for changing and everything. Just bring out your own swimsuit, towel, sandals, and water. You have to stay hydrated.

If you're brave enough, you can run into Lake Michigan to cool down after you're done with the sauna. Think about that great view of the water and the city. Put it on your bucket list for this winter.
