Back in my younger days, I really enjoyed going to the mall. There were record stores, game rooms, movie theaters, food courts, and of course, it was a good place to meet girls. I spent a lot of time hanging out at the malls where I grew up.

It's crazy to think back on how popular shopping malls were back in those days. They were always busy, and every storefront was filled. Being a mall rat was a lifestyle. Unfortunately, many malls across Illinois have closed, but not all of them.

There are still malls in Illinois that are very popular. Places like Woodfield haven't been hurt at all. One kind of mall still does very well, and that's the outlet mall. It's because you can find great bargains.

My family and I will usually head out to the outlet mall in Aurora. That one is really nice. We actually were there a couple of weeks ago and found some good deals. I just found out about another outlet mall in the Chicago area, and it's considered one of the best in the United States.

The Fashion Outlets of Chicago, in suburban Rosemont, just ranked high on a list of the best outlet malls in the country.

 

The giant shopping center, located minutes from O'Hare International Airport, ranked in the No. 3 spot on USA Today's 2025 Readers' Choice awards in the report's outlet mall category, according to a release.

 

 

As part of the report, experts helped to nominate their top 20 choices in each category, which spans dining, travel, and more.
