Some thieves are eating well this week after stealing thousands of dollars' worth of lobsters that were part of a shipment on its way to Illinois.

Thousands Of Lobsters Turn Up Missing In Illinois

One of my top film genres is mob movies. Some of my favorites are "Goodfellas" and "The Godfather." Those stories are based on back in the prime days of the mafia. I always found it interesting that the bad guys would steal full truck or train loads of valuable shipments.

Those stolen shipments happened in the movies, so they didn't seem real or even possible. Who could possibly steal a semi-truck full of cigarettes and get away with it? Well, now I'm starting to believe it. I'm hearing more and more about those types of robberies happening in Illinois.

Recently, I read about a shipment of $400,000 worth of lobster being stolen on its way to Illinois. The scary part, the authorities have no idea where it went. So if you hear about a huge dinner party featuring free lobster, that might be a good place to start. What do you do with that much lobster? Where do you store? Who would purchase "hot" lobster? There's so much more I want to know.

According to Fox 32 Chicago...

A $400,000 shipment of lobsters headed for Costco locations in Illinois and Minnesota was hijacked before arriving at its delivery points.

Dylan Rexing, CEO of Indiana-based logistics business Rexing Companies, said the shipment was picked up in Taunton, Mass., but never reached its destination, WFLD reported.

Rexing told the outlet that the heist appeared to be part of an organized ring of cargo thieves targeting high-value products.

The Most Bizarre Items Ever Stolen From Illinois Residents

My mom once told me that "people will steal anything that's not nailed down." Times certainly have changed since then. The thieves now have nail removers.
