A Rockford man went to a car dealership in Wisconsin. He purchased a brand new SUV and wrote a personal check for $51,000. He asked them to hold it for a few days before they cashed it. The suspect was a regular customer, so the salesman allowed it.

When the time came for the dealership to cash the check, it bounced. In fact, they tried a couple of times with the same result. The salesman found out that the suspect had taken the vehicle to a dealership in Rockford and attempted to trade in the SUV. That's when the police were called. There's a warrant out for his arrest.

According to Beloit Daily News...

A 55-year-old Rockford, Illinois man is wanted for allegedly writing a $51,000 bad check to a Beloit car dealer.

 

According to a criminal complaint, on April 19, Gerber purchased a 2025 Dodge Durango at a Beloit dealership, paying for it with a personal check and allegedly asking the business to wait “seven to 10 days” before cashing it.

 

Bryden Motors attempted to cash the check on May 13 and June 2 and both times it was denied because of insufficient funds.
