TERROR: Do You Know What People of Illinois Are Most Afraid Of?
I would never have guessed the results of a recent survey that revealed the number one thing the people of Illinois fear most. Do you fear it, too?
What Are You Most Afraid Of?
Most surveys that ask questions like what you fear most are usually topped with things like, clowns, snakes, public speaking, or needles. Snakes would be incredibly high on my list and I'm certain I'm not alone on that one. Like this Wisconsin woman in a hotel with her 4-year-old son and what they found in the pool and hot tub.
Or, the time I lost a bet and had to let a giant python slither on top of me, just like the one that might still be missing in Rockford.
I'm also not a fan of haunted houses. I'll watch all kinds of scary movies (except demon possession), with the most sadistic killers but I won't go anywhere near the inside of a haunted house. I'm also terrified of heights. Also, cemeteries at night.
Based solely on Google searches of phobias, it was determined what people fear most.
What People of America Fear Most
Here are the Top 5 things Americans fear most:
5. (tie) Spiders and Outdoors
4. Intimacy
3. Water
2. Blood
And the #1 thing we fear most in this country:
1. Failure
One of those fears is the number one fear for the people of Illinois.
Based on Google searches, people of Illinois are most afraid of
Blood
What I couldn't get from this study is how this fear comes into play. Is it just the sight of blood?
Or, is it a fear of lying on the ground somewhere with massive amounts of our own blood pouring out of our bodies onto the ground?
I'm fine seeing my own blood flow into a test tube for a blood test or into a donor bag, but losing it as the result of say a stab wound scares the hell out of me.
