Abandoned Illinois Mansions

It never gets old looking through photos of abandoned places around Illinois and wondering what the backstory might be, even more so when it's an abandoned mansion.

As one Facebook comment put it,

This screams 1980’s overindulgence but I would love to gut this and update it. It could be amazing. (Kendra L.H.)

I'm stunned that so many of this person's vintage toys were left behind and are still in the home. Wait until you see what's in the basement. So many of the toys and items left behind look to have significant value.

The backstory on this mansion somewhere in Barrington Hills, which was shared by Decaying Midwest, is that the owner died. And that's all that was shared so were left with many additional questions:

Why were so many toys left behind?

Are these toys scattered all over this mansion NOT valuable?

Was the owner's death a suspicious one?

How has no one broken in and not taken what's still inside?

I'd also like to know if I am the only person who is creeped out by the last Christmas-themed photo in the gallery.
