Illinois Man Wins $1M Lottery While Running Errands for Wife

Running errands for your wife might be the best decision you make this week.

Imagine your wife is craving a crispy coke from the gas station and you tell her you'll run to the nearest gas station and grab one for her.  You see a few scratch-offs at the counter, grab a couple before leaving the gas station, and win a million bucks.  Yeah, it happened to a man in Illinois!

In River Grove, a man is a million dollars richer after running errands for his wife made him quite a bit of money.  He stopped at a Shell Gas Station while picking up a drink for his wife and decided to buy a few scratch offs, including a $10 Jumbo Bucks ticket.

He made his purchases, headed home, and scratched the tickets to reveal a million dollar win.  The luck this man had!  What are the odds?!

“When I saw I’d won a million dollars, I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I was in total shock—and my wife was even more surprised than I was. She didn’t believe me until I scanned the ticket with the app. Even then, she thought I was joking.” [newsnationnow]

He remains anonymous but nicknamed himself "Fateful 56".

According to the Illinois Lottery, he actually claimed one of the biggest payouts for a Jumbo Bucks game.  Whoa!  Not bad for a quick gas station stop.

Of course, the Shell Gas Station will also receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning lottery ticket, which is roughly 1% of the winning prize amount.
