Illinois Chocolate Lovers Rejoice, Portillo’s Just Turned Their Famous Cake into a Cookie
There's a new dessert at Portillo's, so bring your sweet tooth because you'll need it.
Most people who get an after-meal treat at the famous hot dog chain go for the chocolate cake. Whether it's in actual cake form or in a shake, one or the other is usually good enough.
What if you could have Portillo's gloriously delicious chocolate cake in cookie form?
Now you can as Portillo's just announced a partnership with Milk Bar, a New York-based dessert shop that will soon open a location in Chicago.
Together, they are releasing a limited edition Chocolate Cookie Cake, which they are describing as "unforgettable":
"...our famous Chocolate Cake turned into a cookie! Yes, you read that right. The chocolatey goodness you love from our cake has been transformed into a bite-sized treat, thanks to Milk Bar's magic touch. "
Hailed as the "dessert collab of the year," the Portillo's x Milk Bar joint will only be available until supplies last.
I hadn't heard of Milk Bar until today, and it might be that it's a New York thing.
That's OK because whatever gets something that sounds and looks as delicious as this thing is so money to me.
These maneuvers by Portillo's continue to improve their standing in an incredibly crowded marketplace. They help differentiate themselves from the "other guys," and they show others in similar yet different playing fields, like Milk Bar, that they are open to future collaborations.
When restaurants like Portillo's are continuously looking for ways to improve, that usually means good things for the customers, so we should only consider this a big W for us.
Admittedly, the only downside is the limited availability, which can be a bit disappointing for some customers. However, I'm personally looking forward to trying one of those Chocolate Cake Cookies before they're gone.
Have you had a Chocolate Cake Cookie from Portillo's? What's your review?
