Far be it from me to stop folks from celebrating National Days of the Year.

What do I mean? Those very unique days are those that only a handful of folks care about. For example, National Make Your Bed Day and National Hot Cross Buns Day were celebrated yesterday.

I usually avoid those "National Day of the Year" conversations unless something sweet is involved.

So naturally, I was all in when I discovered the unique celebration of today, September 12, as National Chocolate Milkshake Day.

From there, I decided to look into Chocolate Milkshakes across the country.

If you haven't figured out what milkshake I'm talking about, it's probably because you've never been to Portillo's for the Chocolate Cake Milkshake. I can't wait for you to try it!

Ranked as America's 7th best milkshake, the Chocolate Cake Shake at Portillo's is another fabulous reason to visit.

This unique shake combines rich chocolate cake with a creamy milkshake, creating a decadent treat that's both smooth and indulgent.

24/7 Wall Street says Portillo's had "come a long way since 1963 when it started as a hot dog stand called the Dog House in the Chicago suburb of Villa Park. Along the way, the chain became famous for its milkshakes and chocolate cake—so, of course, they had to blend the two into an incredibly decadent treat."

Just reading that made my mouth water. However, it's not for everyone. As Janee' T. said on Yelp, the Chocolate Cake Shake wasn't "good to me, but I get how some people like it."

Try the shake at 6090 East State Street if you're in Rockford.
