Your Cheese-Loving Heart Will Explode When You Try These Wisconsin Curds
There are only two things in this world that I want to be fresh and squeaky; a dog toy and my bag of Wisconsin farmer's market cheese curds.
Welcome Cheese Curd Fans
I don't care what your taste buds tell you if they aren't screaming "Wisconsin-made cheese is the best", I'm sorry to tell you that your tastebuds have gone bad and I have no idea where to get new ones.
There are cheese experts all over the world that can spend hours talking about all the things that go into making an outstanding cheese curd.
I am NOT an expert and this is NOT one of those times.
Where to Find the Best Cheese Curds In Wisconsin
It really comes down to three things when trying to decide who makes the best curds in America's Dairyland:
- Freshness
- Squeak
- Flavor
If I'm being honest, the flavor isn't all that important. Before you tell me I'm crazy, let me explain. I can't tell who makes the best cheese curd when judging by flavor as all of us like different flavors.
So the best curd comes down to how fresh it is and how it squeaks in your mouth which is something you know the moment you bite it.
According to hundreds and hundreds of cheese lovers like me, and onlyinyourstate.com, these are the freshest and squeakiest curds in Wisconsin.
You won't find these curds in a grocery store so you'll need to go to one of my favorite farmer's markets to pick up a bag.
Farmer Johns' Cheese Curds
These outstanding, award-winning cheese curds come from the sweet milk of just 30 cows on a farm in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Four generations of cheese-loving cow milkers have produced products that communities all around the state cannot get enough of.
Farmer Johns' cheese is available at farmer's markets all around the Madison, Wisconsin area. While there are around 15 different markets to choose from in the area,
you should absolutely head up for the Dane County Farmer's Market on the Capitol Square, open Saturdays from 6:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Curd fans, be sure to give Farmer Johns, the 3-time 'Best Curd' winner at Madison's Curd Fest, a like on Facebook.
Wisconsin cheese, with a delicious Wisconsin beer or bloody mary, sounds pretty good, doesn't it?
