An American staple will look a little different soon.

When you think of American symbols, you may think of the Statue of Liberty, bald eagles, Uncle Sam, or the legendary Costco hot dog combo.

To the point that Americans were trying to use Costco membership cards in place of Real ID's at TSA. Not a bad idea really, considering this Costco stat from last year:

It's an iconic combination of a Pepsi fountain drink and a hot dog. There's even been families dress up as the combo for Halloween. And the Costco CEO promises the combination will stay $1.50, as it has for over 40 years.

In response to inflation years ago, Costco co-founder Jim Sinegal was quoted by former Costco President and CEO W. Craig Jelinek as saying:

If you raise the effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.

Clear as a bell, right?

But now, hot dog lovers are noticing something is looking a bit different in the combo:

According to NBC Chicago, by this fall, all Costco hot dog combos will come with Coca-Cola drinks instead of Pepsi.

Costco has been serving Pepsi products in their food courts since 2013. Costco president and CEO Rob Vachris confirmed earlier this year that the switch back to Coca-Cola products was going to happen.

Coca-Cola confirmed to NBC Chicago that the roll-out started on July 1st. It's a quiet one, as Costco fans post pictures on social media of the new combo.

Luckily though, the Pepsi to Coke switch is the only change coming to the hot dog combo. The price will stay the same.
