If you have a John Deere tractor, you need to know about a recall the Illinois company has initiated due to a dangerous crash hazard.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission just issued a bulletin detailing a product recall from John Deere. Deere & Company, of Moline, Illinois, says that their 1023E, 1025R, and 2025R Compact Utility Tractors are under an urgent recall for repair.

What's the problem with these John Deere Tractors?

The recall notice says "the front bell crank in the brake linkage can fail causing the tractor to lose braking, resulting in a crash hazard."

This recall affects more than 147,000 compact utility tractors currently in use. Unfortunately, there have been injuries connected to this tractor failure. The bulletin says there have been "four reports of the brake linkage failing, including one hospitalization and two impact injuries and minor property damage to the tractors."

These tractors were sold through authorized John Deere dealers between November 2017 through July 2024. If you find that you have one of the affected tractors, you can contact the dealer you purchased the tractor from to arrange a repair. You can also find more information from John Deere's site which details this recall.
