The good news is that as of this writing no illnesses have been connected to this contaminated Illinois ice cream.

Why is listeria contamination so dangerous?

The Mayo Clinic estimates that many listeria infections go unnoticed in mild cases, but it can and does sometimes develop into what they call "life-threatening complications, including: Generalized blood infection Inflammation of the membranes and fluid surrounding the brain (meningitis)"

According to the FDA, this ice cream began shipping in Illinois on August 21, 2023. They also mention that this recall may affect Missouri and all the other states, too, as it is available for online purchase.
