I may have a phobia that I don't know about because of how much this makes me want to squirm. I've learned that Missouri possesses two very gruesome world records and it involves nails and teeth. I may need to talk to a therapist after this.

I learned this fact almost by accident as I was looking through the Guinness Book of World Records website. I got curious about records that happened in Missouri and am now really sorry that I decided to look.

Disclaimer: this may not be gruesome at all for you and there's nothing graphic about the video of this Missouri world record happening (yes, I found video).

What Guinness Book of World Records feat happened in Missouri?

The Guinness Book of World Records says this:

The most nails extracted from wood with the teeth in one minute is 27 and was achieved by Steve Schmidt (USA) in Columbia, Missouri, USA, on 8 November 2014.

Of course I found video.

This is just one of two teeth and nails records held by Steve Schmidt. The Guinness Book of World Records adds this, too:

Steve Schmidt also holds the record for fastest time to extract 5 nails from wood using the teeth at 17.10 seconds

By the way, I did some research and found out that this might prove I really do have a phobia. It's called "Dentophobia" and involves the fear of losing one's teeth. In this case, it happens to be me imagining teeth breaking off pulling nails. (*shudder*)

Never underestimate a Missourians ability to do something you dare him/her to do.
