Major Food Chain Could Close Illinois and Missouri Locations
First, it was Bed, Bath and Beyond. Then it was David's Bridal. Now there might be another chain closing more than 400 locations and this one is KING.
The massive food chain Burger King announced that this year they will be closing close to 400 locations throughout the country due to competition from McDonald's and Chipotle. The king seems that it can't keep up with its competitors. Internationally the company is growing, but struggling in the United States. According to Newsmax,
This year, the brand is seeking additional franchisees with stronger finances but still expects to close between 300 and 400 more restaurants, Chief Executive Joshua Kobza said during a call with investors. Usually, it closes a couple hundred annually, he said.
Could Illinois and Missouri Locations be Affected?
There's a bit of good news for Illinois and Missouri. For now, it looks like both Missouri and Illinois are safe from having their locations closed. Again, for now. In the Tri-States there's one Burger King in Hannibal and 2 in Quincy. The states that will have the most closures include Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
The first and original Burger King is still up and running in Matton, Illinois.
