Being a police officer is arduous work, so why live in a state that makes your work harder? Illinois, apparently, is 4th best state in the country to be a police officer in this year, here is the data to back it up...
WalletHub released a list of 2023's Best & Worst States to Be a Police Officer, and Illinois is 5th on the list but the 4th highest state on the list. Illinois ranks behind California, the District of Columbia, Connecticut, and Maryland. How does WalletHub rank these states? On their site they say...
"Officers are more likely to be attracted to police departments that steer clear of scandal and corruption and that are transparent with their communities...WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 30 key indicators of police-friendliness. Our data set ranges from the median income for law-enforcement officers to police deaths per 1,000 officers to state and local police-protection expenses per capita."
Illinois ranks 6th in its Law Enforcement Training Requirements category, as well as ranking 9th in the Job Hazards & Protections category. Illinois is 1st for median income for officers adjusted for cost of living, and sadly, Illinois is ranked 49th for the percentage of homicides solved... So we need some better detectives in Illinois I guess?
