This story is amazing. Most of us are in debt, some little some huge. Some of us think that we'll never see the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to getting our bills paid off. Once collection agencies buy our debt, they jack up the fees and charges and the next thing you know, you're paying $1,500 for a loan that only gave you $500. It's so tough in today's world and medical debt is huge for a lot of people.

According to WANDTV.com, one Champaign Illinois Church went above and beyond the call of duty to help. The Reverend of The Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church, Beth Maynard, spoke about the debt forgiveness initiative at the churches last Sunday service. So back in 2017-2018 the church raised money for repairs to their property and promised to use any other additional funds to help people outside the church.

They got a list from the Episcopal Diocese in Springfield and searched debt portfolios to find families in financial difficulty. They then negotiated with the debt collectors. When it was all said and done the Church took care of 4 Million dollars in debt and it only cost them $15,000. So overall, this week 3,617 households in Illinois received letters stating that their medical debts had been paid off by the church. This is an amazing story.
