An ornament created by students at Harlem Middle School was recently chosen to represent Illinois as part of the National Christmas Tree Display in Washington D.C. The students  have been invited to D.C. for the official tree lighting celebration on December 5, but they cannot go if you and I don't step up to help them.

A GoFundMe has been created to ease some of the financial burden that the students' families will endure to make this once-in-a-lifetime experience happen for their children.

According to the GoFundMe page;

The majority of our students will be traveling to Washington D.C. by charter bus.  In order for these 7th grade students to go, they must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian. These adults have to take off time from their jobs in order to make this incredible opportunity a reality for their child. For most of these families, the financial burden is great, yet they are determined to make this happen.

These kids have been working so hard to make all these ornaments by hand, and to have them miss out on the chance to see them in all their glory highlighted on a National stage is unthinkable. Please click the link and donate today, they are still a couple thousand short of their goal.
