10 Foods That Illinois Residents Say Traumatized Them As Kids
We recently asked Illinois residents what was the one food that traumatized them as kids, and the responses we got may turn your stomachs a little.
Picky Eater Kids
Go ahead and judge me, but I was a horribly picky eater as a child, and I still am as an adult.
I don't mean to put my parents on blast here, because they really did try to expose my brother and I to a variety of different foods, but some of their choices were definitely less than delicious. I think my parents hoped to install a wide palette of taste preferences in their children, but their efforts had the adverse effect.
Foods That Traumatized Us as Children
This morning, Sweet Lenny and I got on the subject of foods that traumatized us as kids and we both agreed that the absolute worst of the worst is Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast, aka, S.O.S. (I had to use the abbreviation because the popular name for this dish is NSFW).
Some listeners chimed in to let us know that S.O.S is actually delightful if made correctly, (I highly doubt that), and one person responded with this on Facebook;
No FOOD has or could traumatize me. There were things I didn't like, but I like most of them today.Traumatize is such a harsh word for this, and there are far worse things that can cause a person to become traumatized. Maybe if something traumatic happened WHILE eating said foods. But disliking food in itself, that's not traumatic.
Ok, true. Using the word "traumatize" was a bit of a stretch, but I do have very vivid memories of sitting at the dinner table until it was bedtime refusing to eat S.O.S.
In the spirit of fun, here are the top 10 answers we got for foods that "traumatized" Illinois residents as kids. (I apologize in advance if this brings up any bad memories or unsettled stomachs).
