Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley Donates K9 to Indianapolis Police
Before Florida Georgia Line took the stage at their inaugural FGL Fest at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday (Sept. 7), the duo had a little bit of dog-gone business to take care of: They donated a new dog to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Brian Kelley and his wife, Brittney, donated their German Shepherd "Sarge" to the squad, explaining that they knew from the start that the pup would make for a good police dog. They'd met Sarge when he was just 10 weeks old, but knew that the little guy had a destiny for bigger things than just being a house pet.
"Thank you, Florida Georgia Line for IMPD's newest K9 partner! #WeAreIMPD," police posted on Facebook alongside a picture of the band with the dog.
“We are so excited that Sarge will live a life of keeping people and his officers safe,” Brian and Brittney Kelley said in a joint statement. “Being able to give back is something in our hearts and last night in Indianapolis was a moment we won’t forget.”
According to local news, Sarge will get a new name (not determined yet) and will embark on an exciting career as an explosive detective specialist.
Florida Georgia Line are currently on the road on their 2019 Can't Say I Ain't Country Tour, which wraps on Sept 28 in Irvine, Calif.
