On Saturday, January 12, 2019,  Illinois State Trooper Christopher Lambert responded to a three vehicle crash on I-294, and while working the scene he was struck by another vehicle (who failed to stop) at around 4:45 p.m. At around 7:24 p.m. Topper Lambert passed away, despite the heroic life-saving efforts of many at the scene and in the hospital.

The incident is beyond tragic, and my heart bleeds for his family, but the fact that people are now preying on their pain and loss infuriates me to the core.

On Sunday, the Illinois State Police warned citizens NOT to donate to any social media campaigns they may come across. Neither Trooper Lambert's family, or the Illinois State Police have created any fundraisers in his name, so the ones that are currently circulating are most likely scams.

Illinois State Police said on Facebook;

The family of fallen Trooper Christopher Lambert and the Illinois State Police have NOT started or created any type of “Go Fund Me” accounts.

If and when an account is created and/or vetted by a representative of his family, WE, the Illinois State Police, will confirm and make known to the public.

We encourage you to wait to make any donations at this time to any funding accounts being shared on social media.

Trooper Lambert lost his life while protecting others. I just really can't understand how people can be so desperate that they would use a tragedy like this to score some extra bucks. I hope karma bites them in the butt big time if they are truly trying to scam the caring citizens of Illinois.
