Illegal Immigration has been a story that's been making the rounds on national news outlets lately. Though we might be pretty far away from the border, that doesn't stop Illegal immigrants and the people who transport them. According to WIFR.com, a Dekalb man and business owner, Luis A. Delacruz was indicted Tuesday. He has been charged with smuggling, transporting and harboring Illegal Immigrants in the United States.

According to authorities, Delacruz has been accused of bringing two Illegal Immigrants into the U.S. back in 2015 and 2016 for his own financial gain. Authorities went on to say that he harbored eight different people, claiming they were employee's of Alfredo's Iron Works in Cortland. So as of now he is charged with 2 counts of bringing illegal immigrants to the U.S., two counts of transporting illegal aliens as well as 8 counts of harboring Illegals for financial gain and two counts of bringing Aliens to the U.S. at a place other than a designated point of entry.

If Delacruz is found guilty he could do up to 84 years in prison and a huge amount of fines. Of course, Delacruz is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. With all these charges it seems he was playing the part of a Coyote.
