When we hit the deep freeze almost two weeks ago, guess what froze in my car. My washer fluid.

I ran to the store and guess what shelf was empty. Yep. The -35 degree washer fluid. Rats! Handfuls of snow thrown on the windshield was my cleaner.

Don't let this happen to you, be prepared with your own D.I.Y. windshield washer fluid.

This simple recipe will come in handy when you need to clean the salt and road gunk off your windshield and there's none to find in the stores.

  • 7 cups water
  • 3 cups non-sudsing ammonia
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • Mix all the ingredients into a large jug. Pour as needed into the reservoir.

Yes, this simple recipe is good for the deep freeze temperatures we deal with every winter.
