The City Of Rockford has announced several roads and intersections will close this week for repairs and other work.

Mulberry Street between North Court Street and North Winnebago Street in downtown Rockford will be closed during the day Wednesday. The closure will allow for the replacement of air conditioning units on top of the Rockford Mass Transit building.

Detours will be posted in the area. The public works department expects the project to be completed by the end of the day depending on the weather.

Another portion of Mulberry Street will be closed Wednesday through May 21. The intersection of Mulberry Street and Forest Avenue will be closed for concrete work.

Similar work also will start tomorrow at Irving Avenue and West Jefferson Street and South Fourth Street and 20th Avenue. Concrete work at both those intersections also is slated to be completed by May 21.

The city also has announced sewer work will begin Thursday. The project will force the closure of Constance Drive between Wisconsin Avenue and Colorado Avenue.

The Rock River Reclamation District estimates the project will be completed by May 22 depending on the weather.
