I'm beginning to see many people driving around Rockford with both medical masks and cloth masks, not both at the same time. I've also spotted a few folks in stores with masks on, too. But, when does the CDC recommend wearing masks? I ask this because I don't see it as necessary to wear a mask while walking to the car at home and driving to pick up groceries or fast food. Most fast-food joints now have partition glass covering most of the sliding window where food/money is exchanged. So what's the CDC's advice?

CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

Hopefully, this clarifies when you definitely should be wearing a mask. It's also worth noting the importance of maintaining 6 feet social distance, frequently washing our hands, covering your sneeze or cough with your elbow, and STAYING HOME.

CDC also shared detailed instructions for making your own masks, check it out.
