Caleb Harvell, 20, Past Monroe Center Firefighter Loses Battle with Cancer

Very sad news to report as I have learned about the passing on Saturday of Caleb Harvell. Caleb, was a previous Monroe Center, IL firefighter, most recently a firefighter in Kentucky. Last year he was diagnosed with cancer. It's devastating that a 20 year old young man that has devoted his life to helping others should had to suffer through this.

Harvell is known to friends as "KB". Many of his fellow firefighters have noted Harvell's deep love of protecting others by fighting fires. Harvell was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2013 and was under treatment the Madisonville Baptist Hospital in Kentucky. The cancer had started in one part of his lower body, spread  to his abdomen, his lungs and finally his brain.

Caleb was born January 4, 1994 in DeKalb, Illinois.

In a touching bedside ceremony held in his hospital room, Caleb Harvell was promoted to Honorary Lieutenant with the Greenville, KY  Fire Dept. View the video here:
