It was only a matter of time before this happened. Between the Deerfield citizens who sued and the NRA, this ban was never going to stand. It has been awhile since we discussed this so lets get caught up.

Back in April, following the Parkland school shooting, Deerfield, Illinois instituted a ban on assault rifles. Those that didn't comply by the deadline could be fined $1,000 a day. That wasn't all though. It also banned magazines that held more than ten rounds of ammunition and required residents who bought their guns legally to turn them over to the government.

That is where they really screwed up. Gun advocates constantly worry over the conspiracy theory that the government will come to take our guns away and Deerfield basically threw gas on that wild fire.

Citizens sued and the NRA came out swinging, but yesterday a judge ended up slamming on the brakes.

According to Vice News, "A judge blocked a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in the small town of Deerfield, Illinois, less than 24 hours before it was meant to go into effect."

I am all about common sense gun laws but this ban Deerfield attempted to put into place was an aggressive assault (no pun intended) on our rights. If you don't like guns don't buy one. It is up to you, but don't you dare try to stop me from exercising my right to bare arms.

Had this judge not stepped in, the Deerfield ban would have gone into effect today.
