Over the weekend, in downtown Rockford, a special retail store popped up to help cloth the homeless.

According to this story reported by WIFR News, the "Pop Up Street Store" was created by Shelter Care Ministries of Rockford to help those in need of clothes and other necessities. Each shopper was were accompanied by their own assistant and were able to take three pieces of clothing. Organizers say the store was a great success and that it helped serve about 50 homeless people.

All items that were donated to the special "Pop Up Street Store" were collected over the last two months by members from Christ the Savior Parish in Rockford.

Wow! I think that was a great idea. I hope we get so more of this here in the stateline area.
