The description of the disease-ridden game is straight out of The Walking Dead and it's 100% real.

Animals carrying the disease take on a zombie-like stare and become gaunt, and their rib cages become exposed.

MyStateline.com just described a living nightmare. The disease is called chronic wasting disease (CWD) and what's worse is it's contagious!

Experts say CDC can remain in the environment for a long time, so other animals can contract the disease.

CDC says Zombie Deer (yes, they exist) have been reported in 17 counties in Illinois!

The "zombie deer" was reported in Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Livingston, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will, and Winnebago Counties.

The deer aren't actual zombies and the CDC doesn't know what would happen to humans if they contracted CWD (Zombie Deer Disease) but advise to have all game meat tested before consumption.

Sweet dreams.
