Fourteen-year-old Miguel Reyes from Elkhart, Indiana is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan, so when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year it made perfect sense to name the nasty thing after his most hated rival; Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The inspiration for the tumor's name came from one of Miguel's former teachers, Peg Kelly (who he now calls Aunt Peg), who just so happens to be a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan.

Following Miguel's diagnosis, Peg Kelly had a suggestion for the teen. She tells The Elkhart Truth:

“I said, ‘You need to name that tumor so we can kill it,’” Kelly said. “You know what he named it? Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers. What a stinker!”

Miguel has not been able to kill Aaron Rodgers (the tumor) yet, but he has stopped it from growing. Problems with vision, headaches, short-term memory and seizures however, still remain. This is why Aunt Peg also suggested they find a Miguel a dog, (which she later bought for him) that could be trained to help alert his family when Miguel was in trouble.

Hester, named after Devin Hester, Miguel's favorite former Chicago Bear, is a 13-month old German Shepherd who has quickly become Miguel's best friend and furry shoulder to cry on through this difficult journey.

The family's hope is that Hester can be trained not only to alert for seizures, but also to help Miguel avoid bumping into things. They have established a GoFundMe page to help raise the $12,000 needed for Hester's training, and have raised about half of the funds needed.

To Mighty Miguel Reyes we say, good luck and GO BEARS! We hope to hear about the death of Aaron Rodgers (the tumor!) very soon, and I'm willing to bet even Aaron Rodgers himself would agree!
