Parents, you may be totally out of the loop when it comes to kids language skills, or at least when it comes to proper way to say "Illinois."

I can pretty much guarantee you no teacher in his or her right mind would teach a child to pronounce our state this way.

It has been reported that young kids are now referring to the Land of Lincoln as either:

  • illy-nilly
  • nilly-boi

Ridiculous! Those are both odd nicknames for the land of unending taxation, we call home.

I have to admit that I have not heard this first hand, but these nicknames have been showing up in my social feed.

Who else has heard their child refer to Illinois as 'illy-nilly', or 'nilly-boi'?
