Blosom has passed away. Last year we reported that the world's tallest cow resided in right here in Northern Illinois. This week, we learned that Blosom has died on a farm in Orangeville.

Blosom held the record of being the world's tallest cow for just under a year. The Freeport Journal Standard is reporting that the cow's owner, Pat Hanson, says that her 6-foot-4 Holstein, called Blosom, died May 26 on her farm near Orangeville, IL

Hanson says was not exactly certain what was wrong with Blosom. Two veterinarians could not save her. So, she had to put the Blosom down.

Blosom lived 13 years and was buried in her favorite pasture, with her head facing east toward the farm.

The Guinness Book of World Records proclaimed Blosom as the the world's tallest cow in August of 2014. Blosom weighed in at 2000 pounds. She will remain in the 2016 edition of the record book.
