According to AP Wisconsin Head Basketball Coach Bo Ryan To Retire. Details here for Badger fans in the Stateline area.

 

As mentioned by CBS Chicago, Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan plans to retire after next season, looking to pass the torch after molding the Badgers into a national power during his 14 seasons in Madison.

Ryan made the surprising announcement on Monday and added that only after some heart to hearts with Athletic Director Barry Alvarez, he will stay one more year. He was ready to call it a career in April after Wisconsin lost to Duke in the national title game.

Ryan said it is his hope that longtime Badgers assistant Greg Gard is chosen to succeed him and take the Badgers to the next level.

In his 14 years, Ryan cemented himself as the face of college basketball in Wisconsin.

Ryan record in impressive. He has a winning record of 357 wins and 125 loses (.741) as coach of the Badgers and has taken the Badgers to the NCAA tournament in every one of his seasons on the bench.

Wisconsin basketball fans will have one more year to thank Bo Ryan and wish him well in the future.
