Willie Nelson’s Brother Dies
Willie Nelson's brother, Ira Doyle Nelson Jr., has died. The country legend says it happened on Wednesday (April 15). He was 77 years old.
Doyle, as he’s referred to on the singer’s Facebook page, was Willie and Bobbie Nelson’s younger brother. While not part of the band, he was involved in the music industry in a way, as he was a bus driver for rock acts like Bon Jovi, Van Halen and John Fogerty. He’s also said to have driven Willie’s bus for awhile.
“He was a gentle man who will be dearly missed,” the post reads. Doyle died of natural causes.
Nelson is currently taking a break from the road, but he’ll begin a robust touring schedule starting May 15 in Kansas City. His official website has dates scheduled through August. He’s also working on an album of duets with Merle Haggard. Django and Jimmie will be released on June 2. He says a new single will be released on Monday (April 20).
This is the second time in just a few days that Nelson has made news for unfortunate reasons. Earlier this week it was reported that the singer himself had died. That ended up being a hoax. In fact, it was the recirculation of a hoax first perpetuated several months ago. Nelson is alive and well.
