Rockford Library branches became a hot topic at this week's city council meeting, raising questions like why one branch is closing and questioning weekend hours. Here's what went down.According to WIFR, alderman Tim Durkee stressed the importance of libraries being opened in areas where children need them most, likely referring to the Montague and Rockto Centre locations, which are both closed on the weekends.

Alderman Durkee was also concerned about the Lewis Lemon branch closing.

Shouldn't libraries be open on the weekends as well as after "business" hours so parents are able to get their children to the library before it closes?

On Rockford Public Library's official website, here are the date all branch are closed.
