Warming Center Locations In Rockford Have Been Updated

With the first snowfall of the season here, it will only be a matter of time before frigid temps invade Rockford. For those who have no roof over their head or have issues paying the bills, there are locations around Rockford that can help and you can find here. 

I am fortunate to have a roof over my head and to have working heat. There are some in the area who have neither. Then there are elderly people who have a home or other form of living where heat can be a challenge. It isn't bone chilling cold yet, but that will be the case sooner than later.

If you know of anyone who is needs to stay somewhere to stay warm, or just looking for a quick place to heat up, here are some warming center locations in Winnebago and Boone Counties, according to WREX-TV:

WINNEBAGO COUNTY

The Carpenter's Place, 1149 Railroad Avenue, Rockford. Monday thru Friday from 8:15 AM till 3:00 PM

Women's Crisis Center and Men's Crisis Center of the Rockford Rescue Mission. located at 715 W. State St. in Rockford. For the Women's side, only women and children are allowed. It is open from 8 AM till 5 PM seven days a week.  For the men's side, it is open from 7 AM till 7 PM seven days a week with 3 meals served a day at 7 AM, noon and 5:30 PM

Pecatonica Village Hall, located at 405 Main St. It will be open Monday thru Friday 8:30 AM till 4:30 PM.

Village of Machesney Park, 300 Roosevelt Road, Machesney Park, open Monday thru Friday from 8 AM till  4:30 PM.

BOONE COUNTY

Salvation Army of Boone County, 422 S. Main St in Belvidere. Open Monday thru Friday from 9AM till 11:45 AM and then from 1PM till 4 PM.

Belvidere Public Safety Building, located at 615 N. Main St. in Belvidere. It will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

There are also two state facilities that will act as warming centers.

Illinois Dept. of Human Services Family Community Resource Center, located at 171 Executive Parkway, Rockford. They will be open Monday thru Friday 8AM til 5 PM. They will not be open on State and Federal Holidays.

Belvidere Oasis/Illinois Tollway, East of Belvidere Toll Plaza on I-90, which will be open 24/7.
