As the temperature drops in Rockford, the need to help a Rockford homeless shelter operate at 100% drastically increases. Volunteers are needed as extra support when the shelter begins to reach capacity. Mike Herrick at RRM put it into simpler terms when talking to WREX-TV,

Basically being the eyes and ears for staff, making sure guests are comfortable and safe.

Volunteers aren't needed every night but the rescue mission wants to be prepared for whenever necessary. Without volunteers, it's difficult to serve those looking for warm shelter, hot foods, and a place to sleep.

[Side note: Rockford Rescue Mission is still looking for donated dinner rolls and sweet potatoes for special event dinner on December 23, 2017.]
