Walgreens gave news to the Chicago offices and Illinois that wasn't very good today. Here's the word from Walgreens concerning the cuts.  

 

Walgreens announced that the company will be laying off 270 workers at its offices in the Chicago-area.

According to WGN TV, The job cuts are coming from the offices in downtown Chicago, and also Northbrook, Bannockburn, and Lincolnshire.

Another 100 jobs will be cut at Walgreens offices across the country which could include other Walgreen locations in the Stateline area and Illinois.

At this time no store workers will be affected by the cuts. Only office workers will be under the watchful eye.

The company says the move is part of a restructuring plan, as Walgreens merges with the Italian company “boots alliance.”

If you were wondering, Walgreens will have 23,000 employees in Illinois after the cuts.

4,000 of those are in the Chicago area.
