Traffic signals at two Rockford intersections have gone dark, for now.

If you travel on 15th Avenue in Rockford, you will notice the lights are still there, but they are covered up with bags. The city of Rockford is conducting a traffic removal study. They hope to removing traffic stops at 15th Avenue and 7th Street and 15th Avenue and 9th Street.

WIFR-TV reports that the study is expected to last 30 days. In the meantime, these two intersections will have stop signs installed and each intersection will be treated as a 4-way stops for the time being.

Motorists approaching the study area will notice warning signs will be posted before each intersection.
