After the communities of Fairdale and Rochelle, Illinois were hit earlier this year, the state was hit by another round of tornadoes. Here's the latest from Cameron, Illinois which was hit by a tornado yesterday.

Miraculously, medical authorities say they believe only two people suffered minor injuries when a tornado hit the small Illinois community of Cameron.

Illinois State Police Trooper Jason Wilson says residents of the town about 200 miles southwest of Chicago showed remarkable calm as they sought shelter before the tornado hit at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to The Chicago Sun Times, Wilson says it’s unclear how many structures were damaged but residents say several homes and other structures sustained significant damage.

Wilson also says people who evacuated are not being allowed back into their homes because of downed power lines and trees.

Authorities and emergency crews are continuing to search.

Gov. Bruce Rauner is set to visit Cameron on Friday as well as other areas to assess tornado damage.
