Today is Wear Bright Pink Lipstick Day.

Although it may look funny on some of us, there's a reason for wearing it.

September, 25th has been set aside to wear bright pink lipstick to start the conversation in your family about it's health history in particular if any family member has had cancer.

The Pink Hope organization says that "investigating your family’s history of breast and ovarian cancer is the first step in determining your own level of risk when it comes to hereditary breast and ovarian health. While that may sound a little daunting, this knowledge can give you the choice to take steps to reduce your risk. that helps those fighting cancer"

Although, I typically don't wear pink lipstick (this is as pink as my lipstick shades go) it certainly can be a conversation starter. That, right there, is the whole point of this day. To start talking.

If you're wondering how to start the conversation, Pink Hope has a list of question you can download from their site.

I hate cancer. It's effected friends of mine and even members in my own family. I have two aunts that are cancer survivors. One from Uterine Cancer and the other from Breast Cancer.

So... Yeah I'm wearing my bright pink lipstick proudly today.

By the way, as you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and coming up on Friday, October 23rd Q98.5 is proud to be a part in bringing back the Pink Party. A night to support Breast Cancer Awareness and the Winnebago County Chapter of Pink Heals.

It's going to be a night of fun, food, wine tasting, shopping, music and of course cute firemen in decorative bras. Yep the fun bra auction is back too.

Proceeds from the evening will go towards the Winnebago County Chapter of Pink Heals, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness and funds for local families battling cancer.

So make your plans for you and your girlfriends, Mom, sisters, and cousins to come join us in the fun.
